RYAN SWEENY | RARE BOOK EXPERT

With a scholar’s eye for provenance and a dealer’s instinct for value, Ryan leads our company’s rare-book appraisals. A magna cum laude graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University in Economics and Business Administration (2021), Ryan founded ProfessBooks in 2022 at the age of 22 and has since connected collectors with exceptional works dating from the early-seventeenth century to the modern era.

Specializing in pre-1970 imprints whose worth cannot be gauged by modern bar-coding, Ryan travels throughout New England to locate, research, and purchase scarce volumes of all kinds—from a 1623 Venetian first edition of Giambattista Marino’s L’Adone to a uniquely hand-edited 1907 first edition of Guide to the Paths and Camps in the White Mountains compiled by an original Appalachian Mountain Club founder, which sold for over $20,000. His  cataloguing process verifies every edition point, marginal annotation, and binding detail to maximize each book’s market potential.

Blending advanced digital research tools with time-honored bibliographic methods, Ryan approaches every collection page-by-page, ensuring no subtlety is overlooked. Whether curating single-volume highlights or mapping entire libraries, he brings scholarship, market insight, and passion for the printed word.
